Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali was sworn in as the ninth executive president of Guyana<\/a>, South America on the 2nd of August, 2020 following a PPP\/C victory at the polls of the March 2020 elections. He was inaugurated six days later on the 8th of August, 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Ali was born in Guyana<\/a>, South America and was raised in the village of Leonora on the West Coast of Demerara – the son of two educators. He attended Leonora Nursery, Leonora Primary, Cornelia Ida Primary and St. Stanislaus College Secondary School. Ali holds a Doctorate in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of the the West Indies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He’s a former Project Manager of the Caribbean Development Bank Project Implementation Unit Guyana<\/a>. He became a member of the National Assembly of Guyana <\/a>in 2006 and has served as Minister of Housing and Water and Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2015, Dr. Ali met his wife, Arya Ali – a former GRA employee and University of Guyana <\/a>graduate who is currently furthering her education at the University of the West indies. The union, to date, has produced one offspring – Zayd Ali – born in 2017. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
