The security detail of US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, has already landed in Guyana<\/a>. And that is likely a prelude of what is yet to come. Starting this week, Mike Pompeo will make a strategic tour around Venezuela and this in itself spells out the agenda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a press release by the US Government, the US Secretary of State will travel to Suriname before coming to Guyana <\/a>on the 17th of September to meet with President Irfaan Ali. Next stop will be Boa Vista in the Brazilian state of Roraima that borders the Venezuelan state of Mount Roraima, and then finally to Venezuela’s other neighbor – Colombia – to talk with the Colombian President, Ivan Duque. This isn’t just a trip to several random South American countries: this is a strategic tour around Venezuela. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of the issues to be discussed include strengthening security against regional threats such as the illegal Maduro Regime and defending democracy in the Region. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

To put that in layman’s terms, it means that there will be talks on how to remove Maduro from power and the role Guyana<\/a>, Brazil <\/a>and Colombia will play in the process. It is evident that, as the Trump 2020 reelection campaign goes into full swing for the upcoming November elections, the Trump administration sees the successful removal of Maduro as a feather in the cap – to be the first to accomplish the thing that has been on the US Government’s agenda for nearly a decade now. There are just two short months left and a defiant Maduro who is hell bent on staying right there. It will be interesting, as usual, to see how this plays out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Boa Vista, Brazil<\/a>, the US Secretary of State will meet with Venezuelan refugees in the state of Roraima and discuss how to help them through the manmade disaster in Venezuela. It will be interesting to see how the Venezuelan refugees will react to the man whose country helped put them in that place through sanctions. It would be ironic to see a red carpet welcome with lots of hugs and kisses. But then again, the world is full of ironies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
