Head of the Rupununi Miners’ Association, Marlon Johnson, is seeking government intervention in resolving escalating tensions between local miners and Canadian based company “Romanex.”
According to Mr. Johnson, hundreds of families are being put on the breadline, the assets of local miners are being foreclosed by the banks because of failure to repay loans and the local economy is suffering. And all of this is being blamed on Romanex for escalating aggressive measures against local miners who have been mining the land for years.
