25th of June, 2020. Georgetown, Guyana, South America.

While the APNU/AFC government and supporters have been dragging the country before the courts and making flagrant attempts to rig the March 2, 2020 elections, Norway has joined a conglomerate of international powers in calling for Mr. David Granger to honorably step down and concede defeat.

In a twitter post today, June 25, 2020, the Norwegian Ambassador to Guyana, Mr. Nils Martin Gunneng, stated:

#Norway joins the call for a fair and transparent conclusion of the #GuyanaElections. The declaration of the election result must be based on the national recount, as witnessed by the @CARICOMorg observer mission

The results of the recently concluded recount shows a PPP/C victory by over 15,000 votes. The recount was scrutinized and the results certified by a 3-member CARICOM Team.

This call by Norway follows similar statements from the OAS, Canada, UK, USA, EU, Commonwealth and CARICOM which have all urged the Guyana Elections Commission to use the results of the CARICOM certified to install a democratic government.
