Owen Arthur Passes Away at 70 Years Old

Former Barbados Prime Minister, Owen Arthur, has passed away last evening, 26th of July, 2020 around midnight at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. He was hospitalized around the 16th of July after been rushed there for symptoms of heart complications.

Owen Seymour Arthur was born in St. Peter on October 17, 1949. He has served as the Prime Minister of Barbados from 1994 to 2008 – being the fifth head of government and also the longest serving in that capacity. He was also the head of the Commonwealth Observer Mission to Guyana in March, 2020.

Team Guyana, South America extends heartfelt condolences to the relatives and friends of Mr. Owen Arthur, as well as all Guyanese and residents of the Caribbean who have lost a great son of the soil.
