Editor’s Note: We hope this beautiful success story will inspire you to realize that it is never too late to do what you could have done, and it is never too late to be what you could have been.

Put no timestamp on your accomplishments

Under normal circumstances, students write CSEC at the age of 16/17 but often times many young people face situations that either push them out of school altogether or delay their sitting of the CSEC exams – this was the case with Ms Tinishe Bourne.

30-year-old Tinishe wrote the CSEC exams finally in 2020 and completed her dream of finishing school after dropping out of school in form 4.

Tinishe returned to school at the Institute of Business Education as a full-time, 4th form student despite being a mother of a nine-year-old and a four-month-old. While in school, Tinishe confessed that she was ashamed to sit in a class with children she was 2 times older than but she pushed on and stayed. She stayed and pushed on while her mother was hospitalized; she stayed and pushed on even harder when her 4-month-old baby died.

Tinishe Bourne described being in school the next day after holding her dead baby the night before as the hardest thing she has ever done in life but described it as something she needed to do to make life easier for her almost teenage son.

Today Tinishe proudly celebrates 100% passes in 8 CSEC subjects (5 Grade 2s, 3 Grade 3s).

While Tinishe attended the Golden Grove Secondary School in her teenage years, she failed form 1, failed form 2, was promoted to form 3 and dropped out in form 4 after being labelled a dunce. So, understand what this success means to Tinishe.

Tinishe wants to be a Registered Nurse. I know she will be a great nurse. Please help me congratulate Ms. Bourne and share this story with somebody that needs to hear “NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS.”

She dedicates her passes to her son Decquan and her fiancé Henry Mc Donald
