The Rupununi Rodeo Performances is one of Guyana‘s most celebrated annual events. The Rodeo events take place during the Easter Weekend (staring on Good Friday and concluding on Eastern Sunday) in the month of April each year.

The Rupununi Rodeo Performances is a spectacular social event. It attracts tourists from all parts of the world to one central point: the Rupununi Savannahs of Guyana. Hotels are usually booked out months in advance, so if you’re planning to come to the Rupununi Rodeo in April, be sure to book your hotel room about 4 months in advance.

The Rupununi Rodeo Performances is an annual concert of live entertainment filled with heat, excitement, and adrenaline-pumping action. The rodeo performances showcase the skill, art, bravery, and raw power of Rupununi-born-and-bred cowboys and cowgirls. It is a phenomenon that explodes across the Rupununi Savannahs and ripples its way across almost every economic sector of Guyana.

There are two separate Rodeo Shows which take place on the Easter Weekend. They are, namely:

  1. The Lethem Rodeo – which is held at the Rodeo Ground in Lethem, Central Rupununi on the Saturday and Sunday of the Easter Weekend.
  2. The Sandcreek Rodeo – which is held in Sandcreek Village, South Rupununi Savannahs – on Eastern Monday.

There is also the Bonfim Rodeo which takes place right across the border in the Brazilian city of Bonfim. The Bonfim Rodeo is held one week after the Easter Weekend.
