Christmas celebrations are generally uniform across the country of Guyana, South America: partying, church, music, lots of food, ginger beer, pepperpot, family gatherings, and the likes. However, a recent video which surfaced on Facebook shows an indigenous community in the Deep South Rupununi Savannahs doing their own thing: a uniquely indigenous way of celebrating Christmas.

The video below was posted on the 23rd of December, 2022 by Naomi Ruth, a resident of Masakanari Village (also called Gunns Village) in the Deep South Rupununi Savannahs.

She captioned it: Happening now in Masakanari. Christmas celebration begins today with the arrival of the hunters . How I always miss this part of the year.
