Last updated: April 30, 2025 at 22:53 pm11-year-old Guyanese citizen Adrianna Younge reportedly went missing from Double Day Hotel located in Tuschen, on the East Bank of the Essequibo River, Region 3, Guyana, South America. According to reports, the child entered the hotel’s pool shortly after midday yesterday, 23rd of April, 2025 with her grandmother and other siblings. The grandmother said she left the children in the pool, but when she went back to gather them, Adrianna was nowhere to be found.
The hotel management was quickly informed and a search operation started. After some time, the police were called in and they assisted in searching the hotel premises. However, the child was still nowhere to be found. When police asked to review footage around the hotel poolside area, management reportedly told them that the CCTV cameras were not working.
By evening yesterday, 23rd of April, police said that CCTV footage recovered from the hotel shows that the young girl exited the hotel and entered a bus. The driver of the bus was tracked down and taken into custody, but was subsequently released after he proved non-involvement. Angry residents said that the hotel management gave conflicting reports, listing two different vehicles suspected of taking the girl away. They further said that CCTV footage from neighboring premises did not show the child leaving and entering any vehicle.
By this morning, 24th of April, 2025, the child was still missing, and angry residents mounted a protest in front of the hotel. An angry mob, including persons who knew the girl and her family, set the hotel on fire. The police were called in but were unable to contain the crowd. The protestors blocked the roadways and went on Facebook Live videos demanding greater police involvement and a more thorough search and rescue operation. All sorts of conspiracy theories were put forward by various persons as to what might have transpired. Early this morning, the protestors blocked and turned back a truck which was attempting to leave the hotel premises. They also attempted to storm the building when they saw staff pushing a trolley which they said was big enough to carry the body of the child.
At around 11:00 AM this morning, 24th of April, 2025, the girl’s body was retrieved from the pool. However, many persons are still angry and suspicious. They question why it took so long to find the child’s body in the pool when the pool’s water is generally clear, and why initial search operations failed to find the child yesterday.
Some persons are still putting forward ideas that they believe that the child was murdered.

Extremely poor performance by the GPF. From the time of the initial reports the hotel should have been under lockdown. A search warrant should have been obtained to seize the surveillance recorder and fully search the hotel and everywhere within its perimeters. In addition, an “Amber Alert” should have been issued on all TV channels with a photograph and description on Adrianna.
