Last updated: March 20, 2023 at 20:03 pmSince the start of March, 2023, or perhaps even earlier, hundreds of persons from around Guyana and the world have been contacting hotels in Region 9 for a place to stay during the Easter Weekend, only to be greeted by a disheartening, “fully booked” notice.
After a few hiccups, the Annual Rupununi Rodeo is now back in full swing and drawing in swarms of visitors from every corner of the earth. During the Rodeo Weekend, the town of Lethem is abuzz with activities all of which turbo charges the local economy. Hotels are usually booked out as early as January. Even the hotel in neighboring Bonfim, Brazil, is already fully booked.
Team Guyana, South America strongly advises persons not to the travel to the Rupununi during the Easter Weekend expecting to find accommodation available by chance. That is unlikely to happen and may result in a very difficult experience.
