Lethem’s Top Transportation Provider Adds Monumental 42-Seater to Fleet

One of Lethem’s top transportation and tour services, Greaves Transportation and Tours, has added a monumental 42-seater bus to their existing fleet of vehicles providing transportation and tours between Lethem, Georgetown, and Brazil. The state-of-the-art voyager is very similar to the big buses used for overland transportation services in neighboring Brazil, but manager of Greaves Transportation and Tours, Lubenia Ambrose, explained to this publication that this bus was “built specifically for the Lethem Trail.” That means that it was customized with added features and durability to handle the still rugged Lethem to Georgetown road which is currently under construction.

In the year 2019, the Amatur Bus Service in Brazil, one of Brazil’s biggest overland transportation services, had announced that they were planning to introduce one of their buses here, and I wrote an article showing the features of the Amatur Bus. However, after a test run in early 2020, the Amatur Bus Company canceled or postponed the mission. It turned out that the bus was too low for the rugged trail which had, and still has, many depressions and giant potholes. And that’s where the “customization” of Greaves’ bus comes in. This bus was built higher and fitted out with extra shocks etc. to tackle the unfriendly terrain between Lethem and Georgetown.

The Lethem to Georgetown road will soon be developed into a fully paved highway and it is foreseeable that these bigger buses would soon make their entry here. Therefore, it’s heartwarming to know that the first one has come through a local transportation provider because these mammoth buses have the potential to swallow up the competition.
