The Government of Guyana has ramped up efforts to fast track the conversion of the Lethem to Linden trail into a modern highway. When this happens, it might be possible to whisk from Lethem to Georgetown in less than 6 hours.

At present, 49 wooden bridges are being converted into durable concrete structures and preparation of various parts of the trail for asphalt is in progress.

Some experts have estimated that the conversion of the Linden-Lethem trail into a fully paved highway could take as long as ten years, but optimists say it can be completed as early as 2025.

Whatever the case may be, the fact remains that the trail is getting better with each passing day.

Guyanese citizen, Dmitri Allicock, posted the following photo on his Facebook profile on the 19th of April, 2023 and captioned it, “Asphalt going down on the Linden to Lethem Road.”

This is great news for all Guyanese!
