New Year’s Celebrations in Guyana is pretty much the same as around the world: parties, dinners, socials, family gatherings, and couples try their best to “break into the New Year” with the one they love.

At the end of each year, fireworks bombard the air and decorate the night skies. But what’s so special about a new year? It simply marks the end of one complete revolution of the earth around the sun. There is so much fuss and stress placed on the New Year. People hope it will bring change for the better and good luck. People make “New Year Resolutions” in the hopes of becoming a better person and doing away with some bad habits.

But can you guess the only thing that separates the old year from the new? The answer is….

Drumroll………………………

ONE SECOND is all that separates the old year from the New Year!
